"Behind The Screams"

I usually don't pull back the vail to give sneak peaks into each year's haunt, but this year I wanted to do something different and give you a quick look into the process of what goes into the construction of my premium home haunts and some teasers for those who just can't wait to join us this Fall for the "Harvest".

Every design I make, starts with what we call the "Blue Sky" session... I sit down and brain storm different themes, ideas, and new and improved experiences for the upcoming year, usually around the November time frame.  This year's maze, "The Reaping" I actually conceptualized back in 2019 for the 2020 year, but due to Covid, it was scratched until this year where I could finally "plant" the idea and give it what it truly deserves as a story. So even though it is now 3 years later, the time between still allowed me to conceptualize several other mazes for possible future haunts, and even with the Pandemic, several dozen lucky patrons were still able to walk through some of my smaller size houses indoors.

OnceOnce I have my concept, then its off to sketching the rooms by hand, each one of them detailed in how I want you as the guest to experience the story and all the fun that goes into them. This is also the time when I can see which scenes go in what order and the size of each room in the maze.  When satisfied with that, I make copies and then its off to 3D modeling.  By profession, this part of the build has so many advantages and really helps solidify any loose ends of the design.  It also gives me a real time walk thru of my creation and a basic feel for how it will flow with first person POV and allows for room updates if need be.  I am a firm believer that a haunt is NEVER complete... even on its last day of operation.  You can always improve on the operation/design and by conceptualizing early and often, you really set yourself up to deliver an amazing product.

Once the computer renderings are complete, budgets are made, and most props/animatronics are ordered for the upcoming year's event (over 10 vendors 10 months ahead of time), its then time to "tape" out the layout in real life.
I use painters tape and measure out the entire haunt to make sure everything lines up and once complete, it is then that the first nail meets the 2X4.
April 1, 2022 was the start of this year's haunted house construction (how about that for "it's too early for Halloween") and this maze by the time you read this, will have taken over 200 hours of labor in build and perfecting it all before we open up to the public.  Having a career you love, then being able to come home from the 9-5 to work on the 5-9.. or midnight ;)  over the course of MONTHS is how it all slowly comes together every Fall.

Encompassing around 400 sq feet, the interior of my garage is transformed into a dark, twisted maze of horror with over 10 scenes to escape from... each filled to the brim with smells, audio, textured floors, visuals, props, custom made audio tracks, professional grade animatronics and real-life scare actors are all waiting for you around every corner...

Sure, I can tell you its spooky or that it may be the "Scariest Home Haunt" you ever experience...
but I am going to leave it up to YOU to decide...

So, if you are up for it, come join me this Fall as "The Reaping - Harvest of the Hallow'd Souls" comes to life for 17 fright filled Friday & Saturday Nights, in the months of September/October.  In the mean time, here are a few more "Shriek Peeks" of this year's Haunted experience, and for even more detailed gore, follow us on Instagram:  @_TheReaping_
